The DVD will be sold exclusively on Amazon Canada, the digital versions will be available on iTunes Canada and Google Play Canada and all are accessible via sugarsammy.comYou're Gonna Rire, the bilingual show, and En français svp !, the French version of the show, will be sold separately. The two versions of the DVD will contain special features: a teaser from Sugar Sammy’s Outdoor Show in 2016 and Improv Moments from his Secret Shows in Montreal. Also, onYou’re Gonna Rire, an in-depth interview with morning show host Terry Dimonte as well as Improv Moments from his US tour and, on En français svp !,  Improv Moments from his French tour.

As the first bilingual comedy show in Canada, the groundbreaking You’re Gonna Rire led to hundreds of media stories in 2012, and hundreds of hours of public discussion and debate. Ultimately, it changed the landscape of Quebec’s cultural reality by confronting language issues like never before and exploring the cultural divide and language debate that continues in Quebec today. The awards would follow: in May 2013, Sugar Sammy became the first English comedian to post wins at Quebec’s prestigious Olivier comedy awards, winning the Olivier for Show of the Year and Comedian of the Year. In 2014, he once again won the Olivier for Comedian of the Year.

He officially retired the show in 2016, after over four years of touring, having logged 421 sold-out performances, sold 372,000 tickets, generating $17.4 million in ticket sales, and ultimately becoming the best-selling artist with a debut one-man show in Quebec history. The ticket sales did not go unnoticed and in May 2014 Billboard Magazine dedicated a feature story on him and the show, highlighting his achievement as Canada’s best-selling artist for the previous 12-month period.

Sugar Sammy has performed 1600 shows in 31 countries in English, French, Hindi and Punjabi. This past fall, he hosted the Just For Laughs Comedy Tour in 12 cities across the country. Last summer he hosted two sold-out international galas at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal and embarked on a US tour, headlining 40 shows in 7 cities. His farewell, 421st, and last, performance of You’re Gonna Rire in July 2016, drew a record-breaking 115,000 fans to Montreal’s Place des festivals as part of Just For Laughs / Juste pour rire. His popular “Improv Moments” have captivated audiences online – with over 23 million views. And now, his success has crossed the Atlantic, to France and Europe, where his popularity has reached new heights.

In early 2016 he headed to France to create a show especially for the crowds in the Hexagone. In April of that year, he tested the show at clubs in Paris and sold out every performance. His comedy had clearly crossed many boundaries and won over the French public. After selling over 30,000 tickets at the Point-Virgule, Européen and Alhambra theatres in Paris and on tour around France, Sugar Sammy’s overwhelming success with the French continues, having added more shows at l’Alhambra in May and June of this year.

France is just a gateway in what promises to be a complete European conversion to the Sugarnation: in February and March of this year, he brought his views of the French to Nantes, Lille, Saint-Étienne, Nice, Rennes, Marseille, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Lyon, Brussels (Belgium) and Geneva (Switzerland) and he’ll return to several of those cities in the fall of 2018. Switzerland was the 31st country in which he’s performed and we’ll see if they can remain neutral after that visit!

The French media has been unanimous in its praise for his unique brand of comedy, an honest and severe critique of French society by an outsider, that has caught everyone by surprise.
